64 bit Panda 3D .deb
Written by Tom SF Haines

Note: Since this post I've done the same thing to panda 1.5.0, the deb for gutsy gibbon of which may be found here. This time the changes should make it into the cvs repository, so in the future 64 bit users should be able to compile it themselves. I might continue to provide .deb files if the panda site does not however.

Panda 3D is a rather nice game making tool I use, mostly for messing around. Problem is there is no 64 bit version, nor has anyone converted it. (There about half way between being an open source project and a closed source one. Its a bit strange, source is available, but under a silly license. More critically they don't have the OS development spirit - there might as well be a wall between the community and the developers. Still a dam good piece of software, just needs to have its wings fully unpinned.)

Disjoint Set Data Structure

I was trying to explain the above data structure to my brother, after concluding that instant messaging is not the best communication medium I gave up and drew a diagram instead. I have no idea if it has actually helped his brain get a handle on it, but as it could be of some use to someone else I thought I'ld stick it up.

Cyclops Public Release (#7)
Written by Tom SF Haines
Sunday, 10 June 2007
Well, Cyclops is now publicly available, for all of the 2.5 people who will ever use it. This is the 7th release, I fleshed out two entire chapters for this, to make it just a touch more usable. No real new features in the program itself, but a bunch of bug fixes as is normal.

As its now public I have included in the read more section the two demo videos I have so far. Another one is on its way. Albeit at the pace of a snail with really tiny legs.

.ply Import/Export
Written by Tom SF Haines

The .ply import/export scripts that come with Blender are somewhat limited, and in desperate need of replacement. Prefably such that they are considerably faster, as loading a large ply file with the current scripts is a tea break experience. Anyway, I needed to be able to open files from a Cyberware head scanner, so I hacked the current files up such that it would work. (This was also necessary for use with Cyclops.)

Two bit peices of elephant shit
Written by Tom SF Haines

It appears some 'group' by the name of 'dengesiz' hacked my website. I've spent a good while going over everything and it appears that they didn't touch the database and only edited one file - '/lanaguage/english.php.'

Internet Explorer
Written by Tom SF Haines

Just a quick note to anyone browsing the photos - I just tested it in Internet Explorer and, suprise, suprise, the photo section goes all wrong with regards to text size - its about 3 times too big! Either sit back from the monitor (...) and live with the screwy formating or flip to a real web browser. Firefox comes highly recomended. (Ok, I might fix it at some point, but its not exactly a priority.)
